What are Plastisol Transfers ?

Plastisol Thermal prints or Plastisol Transfers as they are also known as, are one of the most popular garment decorations available and are widely used throughout the fashion industry. When done correctly, a heat-applied plastisol transfer will be as permanent as a direct print and under some circumstances nearly indistinguishable. Plastisol transfers are screenprinted on special paper. The resulting print, called a transfer, can be stored until needed. When you want to apply the transfer to a T-shirt or other textile, place the garment in a heat transfer press, put the transfer on top of the garment, ink side down, and close the press. The heat and pressure applied by the press will force the ink into the garment. When the press is opened and the paper is peeled off the shirt, the ink remains behind.

What is 3d embroidery?

3d embroidery is a brand new technique that will add dimension to any design. Your 3d Embroidered garment will go through several process’s to achieve an exciting embroidered design. Firstly the garment is embroidered using special threads with a deep stitch. The back of the logo is then heat treated to bond the threads to the garment, and the top of the embroidery is cut allowing the threads to stand upright, the feel is similar to the pile on an expensive carpet. The result is an exciting 3D embroidery which will add dimension to your custom embroidered design. Regular embroidery can also be added to define lines and emphasise depth.

What is the difference between Colour print and colour cut?

Colour print material is a white material onto which full colour designs and logos are printed. These can then be cut into a shape and heat applied to your chosen garment. Colour cut on the other hand are single coloured foil materials and your chosen design is cut from the material and applied onto your garment. There are a range of colours available including red, yellow, orange, Kelly green, black, white, silver. Colour cut cannot be printed, so a two colour logo for example is achieved by cutting the logo using two different coloured foils and applying them separately to your garment.

What are domed logos ?

Domed logos are produced by printing your design onto a special garment film and applying a two-part polyurethane resin dome on top. The two-part polyurethane resin is the dominant product used in the doming industry. It consists of an isocyanate (hardener) and a polyol (resin). What makes this product so popular is the quality of surface finish, resistance to yellowing or deterioration, and its overall durability. The domed decals are applied to the garment - or any other fabric or leather article - by means of a heated press. This has the advantage of making the application of the finished dome almost fool proof, with virtually no risk of damage to expensive completed items. Only perfect domes are applied, without the risk of ‘misprints’ or other problems. In addition, because the labels are securely attached to the garments without the need for any stitching, the integrity of the fabric is retained. This is a particular advantage with the waterproof materials which are popular for sports jackets and coats etc. where the stitching holding a traditional type label can provide a route for moisture to penetrate to the inside of what is intended to be a weatherproof garment, requiring additional water barrier protection on the inside of the garment in vicinity of the label. Domed emblems obviate the necessity for this additional cost item.

Will you print and ship one or two shirts at a time for me as I get orders?

Yes. We're happy to do this for you, but you'll be paying insane setup fees. You're much better off printing 24 shirts and having them shipped straight to you so you can handle the whole thing.

Can you use a picture I got from a web page?

Images on web pages are made to download quickly, so they are usually small and very low resolution. Although we can create an imprint from such a picture, you probably wouldn't like the results. Larger, high res images would be preferable, but if the web image is all you have, send it anyway and we'll see what we can do.

When ordering T-shirts or Poloshirts do I have to get all the same size?

Of course not! You can order multiple sizes! They can even all be on the same order, which gets you a better price, as long as we can print the same size design on all of them.

Do I have to get all the same colour garment?

No! You can get multiple colours within the same order as long as the ink colours and design remain the same.

How do I get a quote?

Please e-mail or call us for a quote . Please give us as much information as possible regarding product, quantity, size number of printed colour etc. We may also need to call you to discuss further details in order to give you an accurate quote so your contact details would be great.

What is your guarantee?

We guarantee our printing with no questions asked. We cannot be responsible for size variations in garments between manufacturers.

What textile types do you offer?

Most of our garments are offered in 100% cotton and 50/50 cotton/polyester blend. Some garments are not offered in both types of materials. Garments that are not available in 100% cotton will be substituted with as the highest blend number available.

Digitally printed garments require that we print on 100% cotton or a blend that is close to 100% cotton. Screen printed garments may be either 100% cotton or a 50/50 blend of cotton and polyester. Garments that are 100% cotton are the preferred choice for embroidery. We do not recommend embroidering full front or full back designs on jersey cotton garments (t-shirt material) as it causes puckering. For more information on a particular garment, go to the products link on our home page.

PDF? EPS? TIFF? What does all that stuff mean?

Basically, there are 2 types of computer graphic files: the vector graphic and the bitmap graphic.

Bitmap Graphics
Bitmap graphic files compose the image by assigning a specific colour to each individual pixel in the document. A pixel is like a little block of colour, and the document is made up by aligning these pixels side-by-side in a grid pattern. The number of pixels in the document determines the image's resolution. The more pixels in a document, the more detail in the image, and the larger the file size. Some drawbacks to bitmap files are the much greater file sizes and the limits to size adjusting. a 1" by 1" image at 72 pixels per inch may look great on the website, but won't look good when enlarged to t-shirt size. Some common bitmap files are JPEG, TIFF, GIF, and any digital photograph format.

Vector Graphics
Vector graphics compose the image in a much different manner. Instead of colouring actual pixels, the image is comprised of a series of mathematical formulas which the graphic program draws directly onto the screen, and is re-drawn whenever you zoom in or out, or adjust the image size. Vector images can be enlarged or shrunk to any size without the loss of any detail. This feature, and the smaller file sizes are the main advantages to vector files. Some common vector files are Illustrator, Corel Draw and Freehand.

Special file types
There are 2 common file types that are closely associated with computer graphic files and often get confused with them - EPS and PDF files.

EPS
EPS stands for Encapsulated Post-Script and is basically a computer language for printers. EPS files can be either vector graphics or bitmaps, or they may be neither. Since many printers use the EPS language, many more programs are capable of creating EPS files. Many graphic files can be saved as EPS, which makes it easier to open them in other graphic programs. Someone using Freehand should be able to save a file as an EPS and have someone who uses Illustrator be able to open it just fine. Vector files are being used as an example, but bitmap files can be saved in the EPS format as well.

PDF
PDF means Portable Document File. This file type is growing in popularity with the spread of Adobe's Acrobat Reader. PDF files are a way of sending a computer document for someone to be able to view, but not alter. They are more closely related to desktop publisher files since they can contain multiple pages. Adobe Illustrator now automatically saves it's files as PDF compatible, but other file types can be saved as PDF as well, including desktop publishers and web design programs.
Both EPS and PDF files are acceptable formats.

Some Common Graphic File Types
Suffix File Type Graphic type Info
.ai Adobe Illustrator vector
.cdr Corel Draw vector
.jpg JPEG bitmap Journalist's Photograph Exchange Group. Used mainly for displaying on web pages. Usually small and low resolution for quick downloads.
.tiff TIFF bitmap
.gif CompuserveGIF bitmap Another file type used mainly for the internet. These files use index colors and can be animated.
.psd Adobe Photoshop bitmap
.eps Encapsulated Post Script vector, bitmap, or other
.pdf Portable Document Format vector, bitmap, or other

Screenprinting

What is Screenprinting?

The screen printing process consists of three elements: the screen which is the image carrier, the squeegee and ink. In order to create a screen printed design, the artwork must first go through colour separation. An artist breaks down the artwork into separate films by colour. A stencil is produced on a screen using an emulsion. The screen printing process uses a fine porous mesh fabric stretched tightly over a frame made of wood or metal.

The stencil openings determine the form , dimensions and quality of the imprint produced. Screenprinting is one of the oldest forms of printing and is a very skilled operation. The process involves exact pressures and specialized inks to result in a long lasting design. The most popular screenprinted products include vinyl, car window stickers and T-shirts.

What happens if I want to reorder?

Artwork is kept on file indefinitely. Screens can be used within a one-year period for a setup fee. After the year, screen charges apply.

Labels and decals

Are your vinyl stickers weatherproof?

Yes, the vinyl bumper stickers we print are top quality 3.5 mil. outdoor weatherproof vinyl with a 5-7 year average life expectancy. The inks we use do not smear, run, or fade in the sunlight.

Screen printed stickers are always better than roll stickers or stickers printed with the flexography method. While these other methods are fine for indoor only use or packaging the so called vinyl clear coat won't protect these stickers from fading or deteriorating in the rain.

Do you have the fonts that I used on my logo?

We have over 1300 different font types, however original artwork is best. We recommend converting all fonts to outlines (or curves) depending on the program used. This will make the fonts able to be printed without the actual font files. You may send the font files in with your order, but outlining them is a MUCH more reliable process.

We recommend sending a hard copy proof in the mail or a .bmp, .jpeg, or .gif e-mailed to us of your logo or design so we can double check that we have the right fonts.

What is a scratchproof label ?

Scatchproof/ lexanne Sub-Surface printed Labels, Decals, and Instrument Panels.

The above diagram illustrates how Sub-surface labels are constructed. First we start with a clear polycarbonate or polyester. We then print the image on the reverse face of the material, starting with the first colour, followed by any additional colours in sequence, finally working back to the background colour and the application of the adhesive and release paper. Once the labels are finished and cut to shape, the printed image is then viewed through the sub-strate on which it is printed. This type of label is therefore very durable, as the image is so well protected by the layer of clear material.
